Bala Mandir Madhuram Narayanan Centre celebrates 35th Anniversary
The day was cloudy, rain was intermittent but the mood inside the Bengal Association Hall was bright and sunny. The children were edgy, the mothers nervous that their children must hold through the function and the teachers anxious that everything must go as per schedule.
On 12th December 2024, Bala Mandir Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children (BMMNC) completed 35 years of service to children in the age group birth to six years, with Intellectual disability and associated conditions providing them Early Intervention. A special day for MNC, since it brings to the front the last thirty-five years of tireless and dedicated work put in by the Founders, Management Team, the Staff, and of course the Children and the Parents.
The Chief Guest was Rtn Vinod Saraogi. He is the Chairman of M/s. Meridian Global Ventures Pvt. Ltd and Co- Founder of Go Colors, a popular Ladies Fashion Brand. A very active Rotarian, he is a Charter Member of Rotary Club of Madras Central. He was unanimously elected as Rotary District Governor for 2025-26. In his address he said that the sheer joy on every parent’s face showed the impact of the centre on parents and children. The cultural show was excellent, he mentioned, and the children played their part perfectly.
The other dignitaries present were – Mr. N Kumar, President Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust, (BMKT) Mr. P Natarajan – Treasurer and Trustee, BMKT, Mr. R Ramanujam, Chairman and MD, Brakes India Limited, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswamy, Managing Trustee, Tanker Foundation and Rtn S Krishnan.
The day started with Tamizh Thai Vazhthu, and a prayer exclusively written for the mothers of MNC. The mothers sat on the dais with their children in their laps and caught the attention of every member of the audience. Mrs Sumathi – Principal, Jivikam skill Development centre, welcomed the gathering. Mr Bharath Natarajan, Member in Charge of the unit, gave the annual report for the year.
The journey of 35 years of MNC was brought out in a presentation by a chronological timeline starting with its inauguration in 1989 till 2024. 6500 children have passed through the annals of the institution with about a 100 of them being mainstreamed into normal schools. The main events that brought value to the centre and complemented the Early Intervention Program being offered were outlined.
The children gave a cultural presentation on the theme “Apoorva Katha – the story of MNC”. In small dances they showcased the activities of Madhuram Narayanan Centre. The students of the AVMVK Academy presented skits to explain the various projects of MNC and its significance.
The audience was captivated by the excellent performance of the children and the applause took a long time dying. The day ended with the National anthem and light refreshments.
