Training Programs in Bala Mandir Research Jan-Mar 2021

The BMRF team took up two training projects in the quarter from January to March 2021, with the NGOs SOS Village and Suraksha (based out of Nagercoil), in addition to its long-running Gummidipundi project. The training programmes were conducted completely online.

The SOS programme focused on capacity building training for their staff to enhance the quality of care of children placed with them. It was completely customized to meet the specific scenarios that the staff in SOS encounter. The training was conducted by Ms Maya Gaitonde and Ms Vijayalakshmi from BMRF along with three well-qualified external trainers, Ms Hema Srinivas, Ms Saulina Arnold and Ms Vidya Shankar. The programme for Suraksha was based on the Learning Through Play calendar. Phase 1 of the programme was completed in December 2020. During the first quarter of 2021, the next phase was taken up through a 12-day module comprising concept-oriented training and implementation training, with half a day spent in training. Ms Lakshmi Gopal from BMRF, was the mentor for the project, while Ms Vijayalakshmi and Ms Nirmala were the trainers.
